Biography
Mr. Lowenthal practices in the areas of real property, commercial litigation, and title insurance and escrow law.
Mr. Lowenthal has represented numerous real estate owners, developers, and general contractors in a variety of litigation matters, including partnership disputes, commercial lease disputes, mechanic’s lien claims, construction defect claims, and non-disclosure cases. Mr. Lowenthal has also represented a variety of regional and national title insurance companies and their insured owners and lenders in a variety of complex real property litigation matters. He also counsels and defends title insurers against coverage and bad faith claims. Mr. Lowenthal also has extensive experience in trust and estate litigation and family business and corporate disputes.
After receiving his bachelor of arts degree from University of California at Los Angeles in 1980, he attended University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), where he earned his law degree in 1983.
He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1983.
He is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco with which he has served as a panelist for the Early Settlement Program. He is a member and former board trustee for the Marin Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the California Land Title Association. Mr. Lowenthal is also a former member of the Kentfield Schools Foundation and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Huckleberry Youth Programs, Inc. He was selected for recognition by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyer, 2005 through 2017. In addition, Mr. Lowenthal is now recognized as a Super Lawyer, Corporate Counsel – Business Litigation, 2008-2021, and Real Estate Litigation, 2007-2021.
Mr. Lowenthal served as chair of Boalt Hall moot court board from 1982 to 1983, and taught at Boalt Hall School of Law from 1985 to 1986. He also authored “Evidence,” which appeared in the April 1997 issue of California Litigation Review.
